Elena Dezoraiev is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (11726313). She received her undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts, majoring in Psychology from Queens College. Elena completed her Masters Degree in General Education, and Students With Disabilities, specifically concentration in Autism, and an advanced graduate degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis at Long Island University C.W.Post. Elena has spent 5 years working as a teacher for a non-profit private school for individuals with disabilities ages 5 to 21. During that time she applied and implemented ABA principals to meet her students and families needs individually. Elena has experience in creating programs and working on skills such as: Communication; PECS and AAC devices, Adaptive living Skills (ADL), and academic skills, all which were provide via DTT (discrete trial training) and NET (Natural Environment Teaching). She has worked with individuals with wide variety of functioning levels and maladaptive behaviors, and has experience in conducting and implementing Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and writing Behavior Implementation plans (BIP) to help teach and improve adaptive behaviors. Elena has also spent over a year providing Autism and ABA trainings and classroom supports to public school staff members who work with students with disabilities and to the parents of children with Autism. Topics of the presented trainings varied from Toilet training, to data collection, to social and communication skills and more. During her time as a trainer, Elena was very motivated by passing along research based and validated information to those individuals who come in contact with children and adults with various disabilities, and teach them how ABA principals and Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) strategies can be best applied to improve various aspects of their students lives and the lives of their families. Elena is very motivated to identify and put in place effective strategies and programs that are functional to each individual and their families. Her belief that the lives of children with disabilities improve when every caregiver, therapist and teacher come together and, work as a cohesive team to create a successful carry over of skills and abilities from school setting to home setting or community settings. She is very passionate to get each individual she works with to be independent and capable in as many areas of their day-to-day lives as possible.
